Amory’s paintings come from his “Waiting” series which he has been painting for over five years.

Amory describes his “Waiting” series:

“These new paintings still focus on people waiting but concentrate more on what we think about while we wait. For most of us our minds drift, we daydream while we wait. We think about the past and the future, rarely are we in the present.

For this body of work, I try and emphasize not being present by placing traditionally painted figures in flat graphic surroundings and visually describe the break up of space, motion and time. I begin my process by taking digital photographs of places, people, cars or anything that catches my eye, and corresponds with the idea of waiting. I then organize and assemble the images until it conveys my thought and then paint them on wood panels.”
