"Coast to Coast,
The American Landscape"

at Elder Gallery in Charlotte

Partial Listing of Paintings in Show

Elder Gallery will showcase a variety of paintings which represent the home landscape of seventeen painters from several regions of the United States. Coast to Coast will open on Friday, January 7, 2005, from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm.

The following artists will offer paintings for the exhibition:

Brett Amory, San Francisco; Jocelyn Audette, Calistoga, CA; Greg Barnes, Charlotte, NC; Daniel Bayless, San Francisco; Carl Blair, Greenville, SC; Cid Bolduc, Provincetown, MA; Richard Conn, Landrum, SC; Claire Miller Hopkins, Spartanburg, SC; Robert Irwin, Beaufort, NC; Jill Jones, Spartanburg, SC; Leandro Manzo, Los Angeles, CA; Philip Mullen, Columbia, SC; Hilda Neily, Provincetown, MA; Jack Pardue, Alexandria, VA; Romanos Rizk, Provincetown, MA; Joseph Spangler, Chicago, IL; Diane Voyentzie, Brookfield, CT .

The participating artists were chosen for the exhibition based upon their unique style and subject matter. Brett Amory’s paintings offer a contemporary view of the city of San Francisco by incorporating numerous panels, which are assembled to give the viewer a panoramic look at certain areas of the city. Audette’s plein air landscapes concentrate on the rural areas of northern California and in the state of Colorado.

Hopkins and Pardue are both members of the prestigious Pastel Society of America and will contribute paintings that showcase their talent with painting with pastel as well as with oil.

Six years ago Romanos Rizk was gazing at the lily pond in Beechwood Forest near Provincetown and realized that he had found a subject that could inspire him, realistically and abstractly. His paintings in Coast to Coast capture both the beauty and allure of this inspirational lily pond.

Hilda Neily and Cid Bolduc offer two entirely different perspectives of the landscape in and around Provincetown and the other Lower Cape towns. Neily’s work includes plein air Impressionist landscapes, while Bolduc’s paintings depict a more contemporary view of the area.

The paintings by Mullen, Voyentzie and Spangler capture diverse areas of Colorado, Connecticut and Chicago at different times of the year, which adds an interesting dimension to the exhibition.

Coast to Coast opens on January 7th and runs through February 28, 2005.
