Elder Art Gallery Gallery Presents

“Recent Paintings and Sculptures”
by Wayne Trapp

November 1 – November 30

Elder Art Gallery Gallery presents recent oil paintings, drawings and sculptures by Wayne Trapp during his first one-man show in Charlotte on November 1, 2002.

Wayne Trapp is considered by many to be one of America’s most innovative and creative contemporary artists. His abstract paintings are rich in color and strong on emotion. The exhibition will feature oil paintings on canvas as well as sculptures that were created especially for his show at Elder Art Gallery.

Four of his latest wall sculptures in the show are based upon images from the Hopi Indians as seen on a trip to New Mexico and other areas of the southwest. They are of cast aluminum with patina and range from four to four and one-half feet in height. In addition, we will be showing a seven foot tall garden sculpture and three marble and bronze pieces for interior display.

Trapp is a celebrated sculptor and has worked in stone and steel over several years. His creations range from colossal outdoor pieces for corporate clients to smaller more particular pieces for the private collector.

From his studio near Blowing Rock, North Carolina, Trapp has recently created some of his boldest paintings on canvas for our show. His oil paintings deliver powerful colors and strokes saturated with confidence. His energy and passion for everything that crosses his path are transferred to canvas in the exhibition at Elder Art Gallery Gallery.

During the opening of our exhibition at Elder Art Gallery, Trapp will be on hand to sign copies of his book, Wayne Trapp: The Journey of a Sculptor. In his book Trapp explores his personal journey as a sculptor through intimate journal passages and a phenomenal outpouring of images spanning some forty years of exceptional creativity. Copies of his book are available through Elder Art Gallery in two formats: hardbound edition at $57.50 and signed hardbound/boxed edition at $157.50. (Prices include shipping and handling.)
